Biogas Digestion

Example of a series of 50 m3 biogas digesters built by CITT/KIST in Rwanda. These digesters are joined together to produce 500 m3 of biogas per day. Since 2001, 6 prisons have been using these digesters to generate 50% of their energy needs. The concept for these digesters is based on the Chinese biogas model using human manure. Smaller-scale biogas digesters were tested by SMI in Bukavu, RD Congo, based on concepts widely used in India using cow dung.
