Appropriate Tech Booklets
Manual for Rural Technicians
The Manual represents a large number of appropriate technologies judged replicable in rural Africa, some identified and compiled by Father Dufour and others by Soheyl at the Rural Development Institute of Bukavu, RD Congo. Many prototypes were built and displayed in a permanent exhibit for school students and villagers to visit and test them. Replication of the displayed technologies were highly encouraged as an income generation activity.
The Manual, published in Bukavu, Zaire in 1982, was intented to empower rural development technicians to implement environmentally responsible technologies.
